To create partnerships that will
utilize community resources to expand and enhance the traditional education
experience so that all students will be successful.
Purpose and Commitment
The purpose of Georgetown Partners
in Education is to promote communication and support between the Georgetown
Independent School District, Southwestern University, the business community,
and the community at large for the enhancement and enrichment of the educational
process so that all students have a greater opportunity to become productive
citizens.
Georgetown Independent School District recognizes and supports
the need to teach thinking skills to students which will assist them in moving
successfully into a service-based economy. The globalization of commerce
and industry, and the explosive growth of technology are primary forces which
have changed how educators prepare young people for life. The partnership
directly supports GISD's master plan of infusing a career awareness curriculum
and career pathways, a dynamic hands-on atmosphere that integrates learning and
the real world.
Southwestern University has established a long-standing and
successful relationship with GISD through a variety of partnership programs.
Southwestern University is committed to the continuation of these programs and
the exploration of new partnership opportunities. To this end,
Southwestern University is committed to the support of Georgetown Partners in
Education as a further opportunity to strengthen the bond between Southwestern,
GISD, and the Georgetown community.
The business community and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce
realize the importance of education in our community, and the importance of
partnership between GISD and the local businesses to achieve a quality education
system in Georgetown. The business community has made this commitment to
education a priority in their strategic planning for the future of Georgetown
and will offer whatever assistance is necessary to insure the success of
Georgetown Partners in Education.
The community realizes the importance of educational
excellence in motivating and preparing students for success in the workplace,
the community, and their personal lives. The future of our community
depends on having citizens who are well prepared for life. The community
at large has a priority to enhance the quality of education in Georgetown, and
is therefore committed to the support of Georgetown Partners in Education.
