Steps to Volunteer PDF Print E-mail

Dear Prospective Partners Volunteer:

The Neighborhood Conference Committee (NCC) of Williamson County is a truancy diversion program offered to students prior to the necessity of formal truancy charges being filed with the court system. Referred by the school district, the student meets with a panel of volunteers to create a set of goals to achieve positive academic standing (attendance, grades, etc). The student then follows up with the NCC case manager weekly to ensure s/he is meeting these goals. NCC strives to keep students out of the Juvenile Justice system and empowers students to take positive control of their education. The NCC is currently seeking volunteer panel members to complete interviews with students and families. Volunteers must pass a background check and complete the program training. For more information please contact the NCC County Coordinator, Michelle Miner: 512.943.3216 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Project Mentor

Mentoring can make a BIG difference in someone’s life. By dedicating as little as 30 - 60 minutes with a student at his/her campus (before and during school meeting times available), mentoring can improve self-esteem and encourage kids to stay in school, improve their academic skills and provide support for new behaviors, attitudes and ambitions. Mentoring opportunities are available at every GISD school and is a rewarding experience for both the Mentor and Student! There are also many opportunities to mentor a whole classroom or be of assistance to a teacher on a weekly basis. Content experts are especially needed at the secondary level. Orientations are held monthly and by special request. To sign up or need more information, contact Laura Antoine at 512-943-5175 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
